Design upload & print specs
You can upload a finished print file as a background in the Design Editor. The same format-specific print requirements apply as in the Design Editor: correct format, bleed and a free address zone. Two-sided formats require a front and back file, while one-sided formats require only the front. Valid PDFs using modern compression are rasterized to print-ready artwork at print time when needed; the original PDF is retained.
With design upload, you use a finished print file as a background in the Design Editor instead of building the artwork there from scratch. "Weiter zum Editor" first creates the design draft. Its changes then save automatically in the editor.
Print specifications your file must meet:
- Match the selected format (dimensions and aspect ratio).
- Include the required bleed for edge-to-edge printing.
- Keep the address zone free so PostPal can print the recipient address.
One-sided vs. two-sided:
- Two-sided formats require a front and back file.
- One-sided formats accept only the front side.
The same format-specific rules apply as in the Design Editor. PostPal checks the file against the selected format's requirements. Modern PDF compression is supported; when direct vector import is not available, the print pipeline creates and caches a 300-DPI raster fallback while keeping the original PDF.
Opening the Design Editor from a campaign draft
Create a new design from the campaign form. Opening the editor creates a design draft; its changes save automatically only in the Design Editor. Finishing the design returns with the finished design selected. Going back or using the breadcrumb keeps the former selection. If the draft was started or its design or audience assignment changed meanwhile, PostPal rejects automatic assignment. Reopen the editor from the current draft. Designs with Markdown areas are available for API Flows only.

Can I upload a finished file instead of using the Design Editor?
Yes. Create your design with “Weiter zum Editor” and upload your finished print file as a background in the Design Editor. It must match the print specifications of the selected format. Draft changes save automatically in the editor; typing in the creation dialog does not save anything automatically.

Which PDF version or compression is supported?
